OPENING CEREMONY OF DATANG

On March 8, 2008 Datang (Hangzhou) Pharmachem Co., Ltd. held its opening ceremony in Yongjin Tower Hangzhou. The high-level of FIS group and nearly 70 domestic and foreign guests participated in this magnificent ceremony.
Datang(Hangzhou) Pharmachem Co., Ltd., established in 2007, is a joint-venture company of FIS (Fabbrica Italiana Sintetici) Group and VIWA, mainly focuses on R&D, Toll Manufacturing and Contract Project Licensing in/out Management/Consulting, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices/supplies, diagnostic products, reagent and other healthcare products.
FIS produces APIs, GMP intermediates and key building blocks for the pharma industry. With 1500 m3 capacity in 70 reaction trains and 50 years experience (FDA inspected since 1964) FIS is an ideal partner, offering integrated services from R&D to full-scale production (large scale and niche products). Special capacities are: steroids, cytostatics and controlled substances.

Viwa was established in 2004, mainly focuses on trading Pharma products, Vet products and Agro products. With its high-quality products, wide network and excellent service, Viwa has gained remarkable sales turnover and won good reputations from clients in domestic and foreign markets during the past years.

Jack H. Ye, CEO of Datang, told reporter, with its R&D and production of APIs and intermediates, Datang will build internal quality assurance system, which will manage Q/C for oversea companies including FIS as pre-shipment samples and perform plant audit service. Datang will introduce patent attorney system of FIS to direct Chinese partners about IP problem.

Presently, Chinese enterprises, esp. the pharmaceutical companies are still at the stage of patent-copying, and mainly focus on the production of raw materials and intermediates. The establishing of Datang may help to emphasize the concept that owning independent IP is the basis of a company’s development.
